The Flathead Food Bank strives to eliminate hunger in the Flathead Valley through collaborative partnerships creating effective solutions to connect and strengthen individuals, families and the community through access to healthy nutritious food.
Our Impact Across The Flathead Valley:
- Kalispell Food Pantry
- Mobile Pantry: Kila, Marion, Martin City
- 17 School Programs
- Backpack Program
- Senior Commodity Program (2,324 distributed in 2024)
- Regional collaborations with local nonprofit organizations
Making a difference
A girl came back to school after weeks of absences for the simple fact that she was hungry and she knew that she should access food through the FFB School Pantry. We were able to connect with her, feed her, and get her counseling. She went on later that year to win student of the month! It all started with food.

- Increasing demand for services
- Outdated 1973 Infrastructure
- Expanded cold storage will allow for free and reduced-cost USDA food shipments
- Regional hub – increasing collaborations across the Flathead Valley
Accountability
- Efficiency: 96% of operating funds go directly to programs
- 1,093 Families were able to stabilize and stop using Flathead Food Bank services from 2022 to 2023
Building Solutions for Tomorrow
- Without adequate cold storage, we are currently missing opportunities for free and reduced USDA food shipments
- Current cold storage facilities are very limited and too small to allow pallet transfer. Items such as milk crates, eggs, fresh produce, frozen turkeys, etc. must be stacked by hand.
Your Support Will Make a Difference
- Increased freezer and refrigerator space = ability to accept several USDA free and reduced cost shipments each month. Each truckload consists of 40,000 pounds of fresh produce, meat and nutritious foods worth approximately $80,000
- Reduced food costs through bulk purchasing
- Ability to distribute nutritious foods to other organizations in the valley
- Enhanced client experience – creating a welcoming atmosphere and promoting dignity and respect
- Assisting friends and neighbors in need – encouraging families and individuals during tough times

Supporting Our Neighbors
When my husband passed, income dropped so badly that I had no money for food. I had major medical bills and mobile home rent has gone up so much it takes over half of my widow’s pension. The Flathead Food Bank has been such a blessing.
